Growing up in a household rich with Italian heritage, coffee was more than just a drink—it was an experience, a ritual, and a connection to family. My Nonna's kitchen was always filled with the warm aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and her glass coffee percolator was more than a tool; it was almost a decorative piece, a centerpiece on her stove. That same percolator style later found a home in my parents' kitchen, serving as a reminder of tradition and timeless craftsmanship.
From a young age, coffee percolators fascinated me. Watching the water bubble and brew felt like witnessing a science experiment unfold before my eyes. By my mid-20s, nostalgia set in, and I began searching thrift stores for those vintage glass percolators I grew up with. Unfortunately, they were hard to find, and when I did manage to score one, it wasn't long before I broke it. In desperation, I even enlisted my mom to help track down more.
Eventually, I discovered a modern percolator online and was thrilled to finally own a brand-new one! But my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I realized it was made from plastic. Worse yet, I accidentally burnt it on my stove. The smell of melted plastic was enough to convince me that there had to be a better way—and that I wasn't the only one looking for a plastic-free, durable solution.
With a background in product development, marketing, and e-commerce, I decided to take matters into our own hands. I designed and developed the first iteration of the Nonna, paying homage to my Italian roots and bringing back the elegance and reliability of glass percolators.
Looking ahead, we are committed to constant improvement. We're excited to roll out a new and improved version of the Nonna in mid-2025, addressing common issues and ensuring an even better brewing experience.
Thank you for being part of our story.
We hope you enjoy every sip of your plastic-free, stovetop-brewed coffee with Nonna!
